My little iPhone 6 has a pretty cool camera but it quite
simply can’t do justice to that amazing space.
If you check out the St James Lutheran College Facebook page set up for
this tour you will see much better photos put there from others in our
group. But anyway below are a few of my
favourites.
I just love the way Gaudi’s masterpiece plays with light,
the colours in that special space are sublime.
I love the way the light from the stained glass makes each of the internal tree-like columns a different colour. So clever.
I think the above photo is sideways but I am too tired today to fix it. Maybe later.
Again with the colour.
And of course the whole reason for the building in the first place, Jesus. It will take another 10 or more years to finish this cathedral. It has been under construction for nearly 100 years. Gaudi said, 'My client is not in a hurry'!
This thing is so vast that up in amongst the roof there is a massive great big construction shed, you done even notice if from below.
After visiting the Sagrada Familia our group split up. Some went shopping, others went on cable cars
up mountains. I went with some of the
guys to visit Park Guell, another Gaudi masterpiece.
Park Guell was designed by Antoni Gaudi as playground in the hills for the rich and
famous of Barcelona many years ago. You
can see his distinctive style in the photos below.
Hanging with the boys. Harry and I wore our coloured shirts today in honour of the work of Antoni Gaudi.
Look at that!
One of the guys in our group is a FC Barcelona fanatic. We headed off on the metro underground to
visit the stadium and pick up some trinkets from the store.
And what a store.
Eli got his own FCB jumper with his name and number on
it. Well done dad.
A mean looking hombre on the metro!
Photo bomb by Jimmy! Or Diego as he is known in the local vernacular.
The evening finished with another beautiful meal on the street
in the cooling evening shadows of Barcelona. Dave enjoying a pizza and sangria below.
What a great day.
Join us tomorrow as we continue on our way towards the Camino
de Santiago.
Buen Camino Peregrinos!
