Anyway we were transferred to the massive Barcelona airport
and jumped onto a 6am fight to Santiago de Compostela.
It was amazing to see Spain from the air. The countryside changes from flat and brown
to green and mountainous as you move north-west across the Iberian peninsula.
Santiago airport was much bigger than I anticipated. I expected one the size of a regional
Australian airport but instead it was massive.
I suppose on reflection it is an international hub as well.
We grabbed our transfer bus and headed out to Sarria. Of course everyone had to stop on the way for
water so the driver graciously pulled up at a dodgy roadhouse for us. Kid loved it.
Our hotel was finally found after a couple of hours on the
bus and we settled into quite nice digs.
We want for a wander through the beautiful old town and lots
of us bought our walking sticks for the journey.
The adventure continues tomorrow as we set off on foot.
Buen Camino Peregrinos!
